Important Information

The Kaikoura Wilderness Walk and Shearwater Lodge complement each other perfectly to provide a true wilderness experience, while not sacrificing the "creature comforts'' that you are accustomed to. 

There are some things you need to know that will help make your visit more enjoyable - and no doubt you will have some questions regarding what to bring, required fitness, etc.  Please take time to read through the pages which are linked below and don't hesitate to email us if you have any further questions.




Kaikoura Wilderness Walks Terms and Conditions

Please ensure you have read the following terms and conditions before booking your tour.

Reservations

Due to high demand for our walks during the summer months (October to March) we advise that you make your bookings as far in advance as possible to avoid disappointment 

Prices

All prices are in New Zealand dollars and currently include 12.5% Goods and Services Tax. All walk option prices are on a per person basis and can be viewed on this website. Prices are based on twin share accommodation. Prices are valid 01 October 2009 to 31 March 2010.

Child Prices

Child prices for all walks apply to children aged 12 – 16 years inclusive. Children under 12 may be considered but this will be at management’s discretion.

Kaikoura Wilderness Walks reserves the right to alter prices, times, itineraries and if necessary arrange alternative transportation and walking arrangements as deemed necessary.

 

·         Please note the pre tour arrangements will be confirmed with you when you check your booking details the day prior to your walk by phoning our office on (03) 319 6966 .

For  bookings 4 or more months in advance of departure a 20% deposit must be paid
with the remainder due 90 days prior to departure.

For bookings within 4 months (120 days) of departure, full payment is required.

 Credit card details are required for payment of deposit which secures your booking.

         Outstanding balance must be paid prior to departure.

  • The cancellation of confirmed bookings must occur no less than 20 days prior to departure.

              0 -20 days:              NO REFUND.           
            21 -42 days:              50% refund of total package cost.
            43 -59 days:              70% refund of total package cost.
           60 -120 days:             deposit retained.
          More than 120 days:  no cancellation fee applies.

     
     Deposits are non-refundable.

  • Clients can, if necessary, transfer bookings within 7 days of departure subject to availability. Please note in this instance an administration fee of $25 (inclusive GST) will apply. Refund conditions also apply. 
  • Failure to report for departure - NO REFUND
  • Claims for refunds due to circumstances beyond the control of tour operators, service supplier or customer, should be submitted in writing, but no later than 30 days after the date of your walk departure.
  • It is recommended that customers adequately insure themselves against cancellation charges and the possible loss of money or personal belongings. This is generally covered by comprehensive travel insurance.
  • Bookings are only valid for the dates confirmed.
  • If management of Kaikoura Wilderness Walks declare the walk unfit due to severe weather and track conditions, a full refund will be apply.

Insurance

 

In New Zealand accidents are covered by the governments Accident Compensation system. This covers hospital and other medical costs arising from injury accidents, but does not cover other consequential costs. We recommend that you arrange comprehensive travel insurance to cover such costs.
