Welcome to The Red Cabin (soon to be renamed!), our brand new, fully insulated, and double-glazed off-grid cabin. Designed for comfort and warmth, this spacious accommodation offers a cosy base for groups or families seeking a spectacular rural getaway, situated right next to our Woolshed facilities.

  • Sleeps: Up to 6 people in comfortable bunk beds.
  • Design: Brand new construction, fully insulated, and featuring double glazing for superior warmth and quiet.
  • Heating: A small wood burning stove will be installed soon, ensuring a warm and cosy interior. Firewood is supplied for the stove once it is installed.
  • Views & Relaxation: Wake up to incredible views which you can enjoy from the front deck and steps. This is the perfect spot to sit, unwind, and fully appreciate the stunning location. 

The adjacent Woolshed offers shared amenities, including:

  • Kitchen – equipped with all the essentials
  • Large gas BBQ
  • Shower and toilet
  • Separate toilet block
  • Dining / Seating areas
  • Crackling logfire – perfect for warming up after a day’s adventures
  • Expansive decking on which to sit, eat and take in the views

Facilities

The Red Cabin is double glazed and fully insulated with plenty of room space for up to 6 people. Storage space under lower beds as well as on built-in shelving at the rear of the cabin. A long bench down one side allows for sitting, eating, gear prep. Deck seating is available and stored inside. Solar lighting lamps are available. This cabin utilises our Woolshed for shared kitchen, dining & bathroom facilities.

IN THE WOOLSHED:

Kitchen – Self-catering using the fully equipped woolshed kitchen. There is a fridge/freezer and also a BBQ for guest use.

Dining and seating areas along with a wood burner.

Toilet/ Gas Hot Water Shower facilities inside the Woolshed, as well as an external toilet block adjacent to the cabin.

What to Bring

Bedding: Please BYO Sleeping Bags or Duvets (Blankets). Pillows, Sheets, and Pillowcases are supplied.

Please contact us if you require bedding – this can be hired for a charge.

Toiletries: Personal medical, shower and bathroom supplies (shampoo, soap, etc.)

Headtorches / Lamps: For use between The Woolshed and cabins/toilet block, and in the cabins themselves.

Footwear: With wooden flooring, we recommend bringing indoor shoes/slippers/slip-on shoes for wearing inside the cabin and The Woolshed.

Clothing: We are in a sub-alpine environment – please bring appropriate clothing and footwear to cater for all forms of weather!

Food and Drink supplies: self catering.

Food & Drink

Self-cater in the Woolshed kitchen.

Tea/Coffee supplies provided. We have fridge/freezer and containers for food storage, a microwave, hot plates and toastie pie machine. A BBQ is available to use.

The kitchen is well stocked with cooking utensils, crockery, cutlery, pots and pans.

The water in the Woolshed is UV Triple Filtered and safe for drinking.

These would be required to be paid for and picked up in Kaikoura Township, before your journey to our station. 

Transport

Self-Drive

You are welcome to bring your vehicle; however, we recommend a 4WD-capable vehicle, as you will cross four small fords along Puhi Puhi Valley Road. The road conditions require good suspension and reasonable chassis clearance.
