Whero-Iti: Our Little Red Bothy
In Te Reo Māori, Whero means red and Iti means small—making Whero-Iti our cherished “little red bothy.”
While a “bothy” is traditionally known as a rugged, functional shelter for those traversing remote wildlands, we’ve elevated that classic spirit for the modern traveler. Whero-Iti offers that same sense of sanctuary and essential warmth, but with the added comforts of a contemporary off-grid build.
Our brand-new cabin is fully insulated and double-glazed to ensure a warm, quiet retreat in any season. Though its name translates to “small,” the interior is surprisingly spacious, providing a cosy and functional base for families or groups.
Located right next to our Woolshed facilities, you’ll have easy access to everything you need while enjoying the peace of a spectacular rural getaway.
- Sleeps: Up to 6 people in comfortable bunk beds.

- Heating: A small wood burning stove will be installed soon, ensuring a warm and cosy interior. Firewood is supplied for the stove once it is installed.
- Views & Relaxation: Wake up to incredible views which you can enjoy from the front deck and steps. This is the perfect spot to sit, unwind, and fully appreciate the stunning location.
