INTO THE HIGH COUNTRY
Your journey begins at the historic woolshed, where you’ll board our 4WD LUV for an expedition into the heart of the Kaikōura ranges. As we tour around the highest privately owned land in New Zealand, you will traverse a landscape shaped by both nature and history—pausing along the way to enjoy a complimentary morning tea surrounded by breathtaking alpine scenery.
- Touch the Sky: Reach breathtaking altitudes on a station that stretches from the valley floor to the alpine peaks, offering panoramic views found nowhere else in the country.
- The Power of Nature: See the raw power of the 2016 Kaikōura earthquake firsthand. We’ll show you dramatic fault line shifts and massive landslides that have forever altered this rugged terrain.
- Wildlife & Wilderness: Traverse a thriving ecosystem where you may spot wild red and fallow deer, the rare Arapawa sheep, and native birdlife such as the Karearea (NZ Falcon) in their natural habitat.
- Conservation in Action: Hear the story of Puhi Peaks. Learn about our dedicated efforts to protect this unique environment and get an authentic look at the daily grit and beauty of high-country station life.
- Post-Tour BYO Picnic & Exploration: Feel free to bring a picnic lunch to enjoy back at our woolshed area. Afterward, you’re welcome to explore the nearby stream and bush walk at your own pace—perfect for those who want to stay a little longer. (Sturdy footwear recommended)

Need to Know
To ensure we can make the most of our time on the mountainside, we ask that all guests arrive by 9:30 AM.
This allows us time to:
- Complete your check-in and sign-in.
- Conduct a brief Health & Safety induction to keep you safe on the rugged terrain.
- Get everyone geared up and comfortable in the LUV before our 10:00 AM departure.
Easy / Accessible This is a seated tour designed for all mobility levels. You’ll experience the rugged high country without the need for strenuous hiking.
While there are opportunities to stretch your legs at scenic viewpoints, very little walking is required.
The Woolshed area is on gentle, flat to sloping ground and easily walked around; however we do have uneven, rocky ground in places so be sure to wear good footwear and take care when walking around outside.
To ensure you have the best experience in our rugged high-country environment, we recommend bringing the following:
Warm & Waterproof Layers: The alpine weather can change in an instant. Even on sunny days, please bring a warm fleece or down jacket AND a waterproof rain jacket to stay dry and comfortable against the mountain chill.
Sturdy Footwear: Closed-toe shoes with good grip (hiking boots or sneakers are perfect).
Sun Protection: The New Zealand sun is strong at altitude—bring a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen.
Camera or Phone: You’ll want to capture the dramatic views and local wildlife!
Refillable Water Bottle: Stay hydrated during your 2.5-hour expedition.
Your Lunch: While we provide morning tea, you are welcome to enjoy your own packed lunch back at the woolshed after the tour (we’ll have the hot tea and coffee waiting!).
